Yes moving was crazy all by itself that coupled with the stress of not selling our house before hand, I know we are not the brightest of brights. But good news it closed finally this past weekend! Right after the move, my hands went numb. Every morning I woke up to no feeling in my hands. I tried to get along and just wiggle them run them under cold water, thinking it was just the strain of moving but then they started to flare up and the pain was pretty unmanageable. So off to the doctor, and the diagnosis was double carpol tunnel. Surgery on both hands. Ya this new (older) house that is almost entirely painted yellow with poor touchups and horrible molding didn't look to bad after all, I kinda like yellow because the thought of painting was too much. After all I was driving the kids 20 minutes away three times a day for school cuz I felt bad for pulling them out in the middle of everything.
Long story, long, sorry about that. I did start painting my great room with 25ft ceilings about 3 wks post surgery. We still have alot of work to do in the great room so I will share my living room which is right now my favorite room in the house
This is the before, actually I had already painted the lower part white, the entire room was yellow when we moved in.
This is after. The grey was the hardest to figure out its Benjamin Moore Stonington. I painted this room about 4 different colors in different spots. all were too blue or green, I even bought a can of paint and started painting but it was not the mood I wanted in here. Then after reading how so many people like stonington I bought a can and just went for it. And no lie I hated the color at first it was totally khaki, it did not look like the sample but I kept painting and after it dried it was better then I could imagine. And yes it looks better in person and the yellow looked worse, I promise
The picture frame molding was a complete no brainer. There was already wainscotting so I painted the bottom white and cut most of these the frames myself. I had a bit of trouble finding the right molding, the type I went with is the same on both sides not bigger on one side. like a picture frame. I love that about it because it made it so I didn't have to think about which side to cut 45%. I'm pretty proud that I learned how to use the chop saw. Molding was from Lowes and lamps from Costco. Tim had a heart attach when I brought them home because we hadn't sold our house, but they were the last ones and I needed to have them. Besides I have never bought lamps brand new before.
It looks Beautiful. Sorry to hear about your hands, be sure to take it easy (as easy as you can, LOL) Loves to all of you.
